Don't walk in front of me ~I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me~ I may not lead.

Have you re-homed an animal from us in the past?
If so, we'd love to hear how you are getting on

Just thought it's ages since I've sent a photo.  Here's Millie singing the praises of her new bed a friend gave her.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like this anymore........fatally chewed in the small hours.

She has had her op., is probably about fully grown ( smallish ) and is changing colour.

She is a very happy dog with lots of friends.

and After.

~Northumbria Police: News~

Life looked grim for a German Shepherd puppy found tied to a lampost and tormented by youths with fireworks.
But young Jake has come through his traumatic early life and has emerged as a fully-fledged police dog with Northumbria.
Jake was just seven weeks old when he was rescued after being found tied up in the street. He was taken in by the German Shepherd Rescue Centre and, after two false starts in homes that did not prove suitable, was taken on as a recruit by Northumbria's Dog Section.
He proved more than up to the job, completing his basic training and becoming a full licensed police dog as he celebrated his first birthday.
And he was happy to show just how well he was doing when he put on a crowd-pleasing display at the recent Northumbria Police Open Day at Gateshead Area Command enjoyed by up to 20,000 people last month.
PC Gil Crossley, an instructor in the Dog Section who has trained Jake since his arrival, said: " Jake has all the makings of an excellent police dog.
Initially and probably not surprisingly, bearing in mind how he was found, he was both very nervous and aggressive around people.
Now he's a totally changed dog, a lot more confident and happier around people.
He's good at all police tasks - criminal work, chase and attacks, gun attack, stick attack and stand-off, where the dog stops the criminal and simply barks.
For such a young dog he does everything to quite a good standard and has already worked at three football matches."
Jake's training will continue as he remains part of the Dog Section team at police headquarters.

Harvey is the most placid and friendly gsd I have ever met he loves everybody and every dog. He has calmed down quite a bit we did have a few sleepless nights at first till we realised he doesn't like the dark now we leave a light on for him and he finds the most comfortable place to sleep usually on the bed with us and Ruby (our border collie).

Ruby and Harvey have a mutual admiration society going on and you won't see one with out the other they have really hit it off.

We are so glad we took him we can't imagine life without him already.

Regards
Janice & Kevin

Hello Allyson,
thought that you may like an update on Jess. When we got her and you listed her as 'rather boistrous' that must have been the understatement of the year. What a challenge she has been, and we're not
there yet, but the end of the tunnel is approaching. After 10months hard work and patience I now have a dog that understands all my commands, not
that she always obeys immediately but that day is on its way. She has eaten the floor tiles in the scullery (I have flags in the kitchen thank goodness), the carpet between the lounge and the kitchen, a door post, 4 dog beds, several pairs of tights, letters, bills, the list is endless but is getting shorter!! Now that she has started taking the things which she runs
off with into her bed I have a chance of recovering them. At the moment we are having a battle of wills as to whether or not the door between the scullery and the kitchen should be open or closed - she wants it open, and as fast as I close it she opens it. If I just leave it open she is quite content to lie in her bed, the problem is that she has eaten the cat flap and now there is just a large hole which the wind whistles through. Why do we sacrifice our lives to these animals is it some sort of wierd masochism or are we just soft in the head???

I think Zara is quite happy with her new found sisters & little monster, lol. She is quite nervy when I give Levi a telling off, I'm reasuring her that its not her being told off ...poor wee scone....she has
obviously been shouted at in her past.

Hi Alyson
Just a note to let you know that Gino is doing well.  He has the most amazing personality - never, ever, gets cross or aggressive, and if another dog goes for him, he just walks off looking vaguely surprised and sad!  He's still quite thin - just seems to be the type that doesn't put on weight because he certainly manages to pack away enough food.  He's finally getting control of his great long legs, and is beginning to look quite controlled and graceful when he runs, rather than resembling a drunken giraffe!  Here's one of the latest pics - I'll keep you updated from time to time.

Regards  -

Hi Alyson,
Just a few lines as you can see on the photo "Lady" is doing very well. We now have a lot of squirrels in our park and we look forward to seeing them and Lady looks forward to the saying "Should we go squirreling?". She gets very excited. We still dont let her off the lead. She is "Our Beautiful Lady" we love her SO much.
Love Margaret.
